Effective from 21 September 2026.
The short version: you don't need an account, we don't track you, and we currently show no ads from anyone else. We store what's needed for your songbooks to work and sync between your devices.
SC by Schmidt AB, reg. no. 556976-8392, Veterinärvägen 9, 237 32 Bjärred, Sweden, is the data controller. Send questions about your data to hello@toastbook.app.
The songs, songbook names and photos you add are stored so you can use them, share them and reach them from several devices. They are linked to a random space ID, not to your name or email. If you add personal data yourself — a name in a song, say, or a photo of people — it is stored as part of the songbook.
Legal basis: our agreement with you, meaning providing the service you use.
A shared songbook gets a short code. Anyone who has the code can read the songbook. Guests who request, vote or suggest songs get a random ID in their browser. If a guest writes their name with a suggestion, that name is stored with the suggestion.
Legal basis: the agreement — party mode doesn't work without it.
Purchases on the web are made through Link, a service from Stripe, which is the seller of the purchase. Link processes your payment, address and contact details for the purchase as an independent data controller, under its own privacy policy. We never receive your card number.
In our Stripe account we can see the name, email address and country for the purchase. We store a reference to the purchase and which space or songbook it applies to, so that you get what you paid for and so we can help you if something goes wrong. Purchase records are kept for as long as the Swedish Accounting Act requires, currently seven years.
Legal basis: the agreement, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records of sales.
The app stores your songbooks and your space ID locally in your browser, so that it works and can be used offline. This is necessary for the service. We currently use no tracking cookies, no analytics and no ad networks. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent before anything of the kind is loaded.
If you report a songbook or a suggestion, we process the report, your email address and the reported content in order to investigate and act on it.
Legal basis: legitimate interest — keeping the service free from illegal and abusive content.
If you download Toastbook from an app store, the app doesn't collect more about you than the web version does. Apple and Google themselves process data about downloads and purchases in their stores, under their own privacy policies. We only receive from them what's needed for a purchase to apply in the app.
Both are US companies, so data may be transferred outside the EU. This happens under the EU's rules for such transfers, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We never sell your data.
Songbooks and spaces are kept for as long as they are in use. Purchase records are kept for as long as the Swedish Accounting Act requires.
We can't delete purchase records before the period required by the Accounting Act has passed, but they will no longer be linked to any space. You request deletion of the data Link holds about the purchase itself from Link. Removing the app or clearing your browser only deletes the local copy on your device — not what's stored with us.
Toastbook is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data about them. If we learn that we hold data about a child under 13, we delete it.
If this policy changes significantly, we'll announce it in the app before the change takes effect.
You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have errors corrected, to have data deleted, and to object to how we use it. Since we don't know who you are unless you tell us, we may need your recovery link or a share code to find the right data.
If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se, or to the data protection authority in the country where you live.
